Formula North 2014 is Canada’s Formula Student-style competition that will be taking place at the Barrie Molson Center in Barrie, Ontario from May 22nd – 25th, 2013. The competition made its debut in May 2012 and was considered a success amongst attending teams and volunteers.

So what is this Formula North stuff about, eh? In lay man terms, student teams from post-secondary institutions around the world design, build and compete with a life-size Formula-1 style car. These teams are then judged on their vehicle’s engineering design, overall cost, marketability and dynamic performance on track. This is no ordinary competition! Most of these student teams gain no class credit for designing or building the race car – it’s the pure thrill of building a vehicle from scratch and then watching it accelerate to the finish! And that’s what Formula North is here for – to promote and encourage this hands-on experience amongst our Canadian youth and at the same time, show our international teams true Canadian hospitality!
